About the Newson Task

Introduced in 2022, Newson Task marked designer Marc Newson’s first major workplace task chair. Developed for Knoll over the course of nearly a decade, the chair was designed to deliver serious ergonomic performance without looking overtly mechanical. Its defining feature is a unique vertically oriented tilt mechanism concealed beneath the seat, which allows the chair to maintain a thin, uninterrupted side profile. A flexible honeycomb back uses multiple material densities to provide varying levels of support while preserving Newson’s minimalist aesthetic.

What to Look For

Test the recline and tension adjustment carefully, since the concealed mechanism is central to the chair’s design. Inspect the honeycomb back for damage, verify the arm adjustments, and check the upholstery and base for excessive wear. Because Newson Task is relatively recent and premium-priced, condition can have a significant impact on resale value.
