Overview

About the Leap V2

Leap has long been one of Steelcase’s flagship ergonomic chairs, and the second-generation Leap, commonly called Leap V2, replaced the original design beginning in late 2005 and early 2006. The V2 refined the chair with a slimmer profile, redesigned arms, a smaller footprint, and improved environmental performance while retaining the adjustable LiveBack system that made Leap famous. Its combination of lower-back firmness control, adjustable lumbar support, seat-depth adjustment, and Natural Glide recline has made Leap V2 one of the most sought-after chairs on the pre-owned market.

What to Look For

Test every adjustment. Pay particular attention to the lower-back firmness dial, lumbar slider, seat-depth mechanism, recline tension, and 4D arms. Inspect arm pads and seat foam for wear. Also make sure the chair is genuinely a V2, since sellers often list older Leap V1 chairs simply as “Leap.”
