About the Gesture

Introduced in 2013, Gesture was developed after Steelcase conducted a global study of how technology was changing the way people sit. Researchers identified nine new postures commonly associated with phones, tablets, laptops, and other devices, leading Steelcase to design a chair that could support much greater freedom of movement. Gesture is especially known for its highly articulated 360-degree arms, flexible back, and ability to accommodate a wide range of body types and working positions.

What to Look For

Pay particular attention to the arms, since they’re one of Gesture’s most sophisticated components. Test their height, width, pivot, and depth adjustments. Also check the recline, seat-depth control, lumbar support, and headrest if equipped.
