Overview

About the Embody

Introduced in 2008, Embody grew out of research by designers Bill Stumpf and Jeff Weber into whether a work chair could actively support health rather than simply reduce discomfort. More than twenty specialists in biomechanics, ergonomics, physical therapy, and related fields contributed to its development. Embody’s narrow flexible back, Pixelated Support system, BackFit adjustment, and layered seat are designed to distribute pressure and encourage movement throughout the day.

What to Look For

Test the BackFit adjustment and recline mechanism thoroughly. Inspect the flexible back components, seat fabric, arm pads, and adjustment controls. Older chairs may show wear in the upholstery before the structural components wear out.
