About the Amia

Amia is one of Steelcase’s most approachable premium task chairs, designed for users who want serious ergonomic support without an overly technical appearance. Its signature LiveLumbar system flexes with the lower back as the user moves, while the upholstered exterior keeps the mechanism visually hidden. Amia has become especially popular in offices and home workspaces because it delivers much of the comfort and durability associated with Steelcase’s higher-end chairs in a simpler, more traditional package.

What to Look For

Test the lumbar slider to make sure it moves smoothly across the back. Check the seat-depth mechanism, recline tension, arm adjustments, gas cylinder, and upholstery. Amia chairs often come from corporate environments, so inspect the arm pads and seat fabric for wear.
